Accesibility criteria are established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
The WAI is a branch of the W3C that established accessibility levels (A, AA and AAA) for websites based on how well they meet these criteria, from very basic to very demanding. Most websites that we can visit are asigned the AA rating; very few are awarded AAA. When we see this icon on a website, it means that the site is committed to meeting the accessibility level; it is not a form of external certification.
